FREDERICTON (January 27, 2024) – Liberals gathered in the riding of Fredericton North this past Saturday to nominate the riding’s official candidate for the next provincial election.

In front of an animated crowd, Leader Susan Holt said, “New Brunswickers are facing serious challenges like affordability, finding a family doctor or a daycare space, and it’s clear that our province needs new leadership.”

Fredericton North is the fifth riding where the Liberal Party is holding a nomination contest leading up to the next election. Two candidates were vying to carry the Liberal banner: local business owner Luke Randall and longtime community supporter and former city fire captain Ken Pike.

Luke Randall was declared the winner once all the votes were counted. When addressing the crowd, he said “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join Susan Holt and this dynamic team of MLAs and candidates. New Brunswickers are facing real challenges and we need the right team leading the way to find real solutions. I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent the Liberal Party of New Brunswick in the next election.”

Luke thanked Ken for the race and said he looked forward to working together for the riding. The New Brunswick Liberal Party will continue to hold nominations to name candidates over the coming weeks.

Holt also thanked Pike for putting his name forward and noted that she is excited to welcome Luke to the Liberal team. “Luke has demonstrated as a longtime community leader that he has the best interest of Fredericton North, and our province at heart. I am thrilled to welcome him to the team that is going to offer New Brunswickers real leadership; leadership that listens to you and leadership that cares about you.”
