October 11, 2024 (Moncton, NB) – Having a family should be accessible for all New Brunswickers. Today, Susan Holt, leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party announced that her government would help the 1 in 6 families that struggle with fertility by funding one round of IVF treatment. Holt announced this along with a series of other initiatives to improve women’s healthcare in the province.

“A Holt government will prioritize women’s health by introducing comprehensive, accessible, and affordable healthcare options that have often been overlooked,” said Holt. “From fertility treatments to reproductive health, we will ensure equity in healthcare.”

A Holt government will:

  • Fund one round of in vitro fertilization for anyone who needs it to help the 1 in 6 couples who struggle with fertility
  • Expand midwifery services across the province and increase funding for training
  • Make contraception free to ensure women have more choice with their reproductive healthcare
  • Introduce at-home pap tests for cervical cancer screening to increase the accessibility of vital preventive care

“Our healthcare system must be inclusive and responsive to the needs of every New Brunswicker. With these initiatives, we are taking a major step forward in creating a province where women’s health is a priority,” Holt added.
