Brigitte Noel nominated as Liberal candidate in Gagetown–Petitcodiac

COLES ISLAND – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Monday night for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018. Brigitte Noel was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Gagetown–Petitcodiac in an uncontested meeting.

 

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Noel on her community engagement. “Brigitte has a great passion for New Brunswick and for the people of the Gagetown-Petitcodiac community. She does her part to make things better in New Brunswick. Her drive and attitude will make her a great representative of this riding.” said Gallant.

 

Noel has worked and volunteered for community organizations in arts and digital media, photography, bird and wildlife biology, and most recently working for Elections New Brunswick and for Elections Canada. She served as Vice-President of the New Brunswick Filmmaker’s Co-operative after working as the technical coordinator and first festival coordinator of the Silver Wave Film Festival. She sat on the board of directors of the Independent Media Arts Alliance before becoming their Vice-President. She received the Unsung Hero Award in 2002 as recognition for volunteer work with New Brunswick filmmakers and video artists in editing their films & videos. In 2005, she received Silver Wave Volunteer Award: Recognition Award for significant contribution to film and video in the province in a volunteer capacity.  In 2006, she became the first Facilities Manager of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. She holds a diploma in Digital Media Design and Production, has completed university courses in Business and Administration and Biology at UNB.  Ms. Noel is perfectly bilingual. She lives in Cambridge-Narrows with her husband.

 

Brigitte Noel said he was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from Gagetown-Petitcodiac. “I fell in love with this beautiful part of the Province the moment I had set eyes on it 25 years ago.  We had decided set down our roots here and raised a family here ever since then.  It would be a great honour that I continue to express my love for this area as member of the Legislative Assembly” said Noel.

 

Noel’s nomination brings the party closer to its goal that women make up 50% of the candidates nominated in un-held ridings in the next provincial election. Four of the six currently nominated candidates in those ridings are women.
