BEECHWOOD – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Tuesday night for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018.  Andrew (Andy) Harvey was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Carleton-Victoria in an uncontested meeting.  Harvey is the current MLA for Carleton-Victoria and recently appointed minister of Agriculture, Mines and Rural Affairs.

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Harvey on his work for the riding “Andy has been a tireless advocate for the people of Carleton-Victoria. He shares a strong connection to rural New Brunswick and understands the immense social and economic contribution that is made to our province when our rural areas are thriving.” said Gallant.

Mr. Harvey was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Carleton-Victoria in 2014.  He chaired the select committee on climate change in 2016.  He was appointed minister of Agriculture, Mines and Rural Affairs on September 5, 2017.

Mr. Harvey is a former business owner, who employed local people in traditional maple syrup harvest and production at his restaurant, the Sugar Moon Cook House, and in the production of forest products.  Mr. Harvey believes in giving back to his community. He has served as a municipal councilor with the village of Bristol, he was a member of the Carleton Co-op Board of Directors, and is a member of the Bath Lions Club.

Andy Harvey said he was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from Carleton-Victoria. “Representing the wonderful people of Carleton-Victoria has been an honour and a privilege.  I very much appreciate the opportunity to proudly continue the great work we are doing in our riding” said Harvey.
