Moncton, Sept. 28, 2024 – Susan Holt toured the province last spring to meet with education professionals, and their message was clear: they need support to better help students learn. Now, Team Holt has a plan to bring more stability to classrooms.
“Unlike Blaine Higgs who said that he would be worried to send his daughters to a New Brunswick school — our team is proud of our province’s education system and are ready to help make it even better,” stated Holt. “We respect teachers and school staff and understand that the system is underfunded, understaffed, and in need of immediate support,” said Holt
A Holt government will:
- Retain and recruit teachers, support staff, educational assistants and bus drivers and improve working conditions.
- Increase financial support for those who choose to enter the education profession.
- Develop a new ten-year plan with teachers, other education professionals, experts and parents to define a shared vision for education.
New Brunswick students deserve an education system where they can thrive. That’s why the Holt team will ensure they have access to the best tools and first-rate support for literacy and numeracy in a healthy learning environment where they feel supported, safe, and confident.
A Holt government also commits to continue grade one early French immersion entry and will expand access points for grade six entry.
“Working collaboratively with parents, teachers, teaching assistants, bus drivers and school staff, our team will address the challenges in the education sector and ensure that New Brunswick children are given the best start in life,” said Holt.
