Isabelle Thériault was first elected a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Caraquet riding in 2018. Following her re-election in 2020, she was appointed Deputy Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party. As a member of the Official Opposition, she initially served as the critic for Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries, later becoming the critic for Tourism, Heritage, and Culture, as well as for issues related to Women’s Equality.
Before transitioning into politics, Isabelle had an accomplished career in the arts. A skilled musician, she spent nearly fifteen years touring across Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa, serving as the musical director for Ode à l’Acadie, Les Muses, and DRUM, while also performing as a multi-instrumentalist for several renowned artists. Isabelle also directed numerous large-scale events for national television.
With a strong entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional organizational skills, she founded two businesses in Caraquet: the Académie Isabelle Thériault music school and the popular summer bistro La Brôkerie. She also served as the executive and artistic director of the Festival acadien de Caraquet.
Those achievements have been recognized with multiple awards over the years, including three Éloizes awards, two Musique NB awards, an East Coast Music Award, and the title of Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year for the Acadian Peninsula.
Isabelle Thériault is a dedicated ambassador for Acadie, consistently championing her culture, language, and people. Having chosen to return to the Acadian Peninsula, she is a strong advocate for the value of rural living and she actively contributes to the vitality of her community. She is the mother of Léo, partner to Serge, and stepmother to Arianne and Chloé.
