Guy Arseneault is a seasoned leader with extensive experience at the school, community, provincial, and national levels. A graduate of Dalhousie High School and St. Thomas University, he dedicated many years to education, serving as a teacher, principal, and multi-sport coach. Beyond the classroom, he has been a driving force in his community, holding leadership positions such as municipal councilor for eight years, Director and Vice-President of the Charlo Airport Commission, Coaching Association of Canada Board Member, Bon Ami Festival executive and the Dalhousie Sports Hall of Fame.
In 1988, Arseneault was elected as the Member of Parliament for Restigouche-Chaleur, a position he held for nine years. During his tenure, he served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Canadian Heritage. After leaving Parliament, he spent five years as Deputy Commissioner with the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunals.
A dedicated advocate for educators, Arseneault was a member of the New Brunswick Teachers’ Association (NBTA) Board of Directors for five years, including four years on the Executive Committee. He served as NBTA Vice-President from 2013 to 2015 and as President from 2015 to 2017.
Arseneault was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2018 and re-elected 2020 for the riding of Campbellton-Dalhousie.
Arseneault is committed to improved health care,economic development and quality of life in his region.
He currently holds several key roles as the Official Opposition House Leader, Indigenous Affairs Critic and Critic for Military Affairs. Other portfolios he has held include Natural Resources, Post Secondary Education, Social Development and Regional Development Corporation.
