October 11, 2024 (Blackville) – Today, Leader of the Liberal Party Susan Holt and local Miramichi candidates Mark Hambrook, Veronique Arsenault, and Sam Johnston announced that a Holt government would support the expansion of a community care clinic in the village of Blackville.
“Healthcare is the number one issue I am hearing from voters all around our riding and it’s one of the main reasons I decided to run in this election,” said Arsenault. “Less than one-third of people can get in to see their doctor within five days.”
The community care clinic model brings together healthcare professionals from across the primary care spectrum – from doctors and nurses to mental health professionals and others – to provide New Brunswickers with a healthcare home. The clinics will provide patients with access to preventative and primary care so that they aren’t forced to spend hours waiting in emergency rooms.
“Expanding our existing clinic to work within this community care model in our region will help attract the healthcare professionals we need to fill the current gaps in service,” said Hambrook. “It will allow things like the diabetes clinic and phlebotomy services to be offered regularly, rather than having patients waiting.”
“I am very excited to announce the expansion of this clinic for Blackville – the thirteenth location to be added to the list,” said Liberal Leader Susan Holt. “Mark and the whole Miramichi team have been instrumental in doing the groundwork to develop the case for an expanded clinic in this area. Team Holt is focused on providing New Brunswickers with the care they need, close to home when they need it.”
