October 4, 2024 (Woodstock) – Today, Susan Holt joined the Liberal candidate for Woodstock-Hartland, Marisa Pelkey to announce their plan to open a community care clinic in Woodstock.
“As I talk to voters in Woodstock and Hartland, access to healthcare is the number one issue they bring up,” said candidate Marisa Pelkey. “They’ve told me that many of their family members and neighbours have not had a family doctor for several years, while others have shared that they’ve recently lost their primary care provider.”
According to the New Brunswick Health Council, 180,000 New Brunswickers don’t have a doctor, only 67% of people in Zone 3, which Woodstock is a part of, have access to primary healthcare, and only 28% of them can get an appointment within five days. The community care clinic model announced by our party in August will establish at least 30 clinics that bring together doctors, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals – as well as non-clinical staff to support healthcare providers so they can see patients, not do paperwork.
“I’m incredibly excited to announce this community care clinic for Woodstock today,” said Liberal Leader Susan Holt. “When we envisioned the community care clinic model, this is exactly what we had in mind. We’ve got local healthcare professionals who are ready to roll up their sleeves alongside eager partners and space available to get things moving quickly.”
“This plan has come together because of Marisa’s tireless efforts,” Holt said. “She was able to get the stakeholders together to make this plan something that we can put our support behind. The people of Woodstock have been taken for granted by Higgs and Hogan. Marisa is the candidate that is going to get folks the help they need.”
New Brunswickers deserve access to healthcare where and when they need it. Team Holt is focused on bringing that healthcare to them.
