Liberal Leader Susan Holt to Run in Fredericton South-Silverwood

October 5, 2023News

Susan Holt, leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, has announced that she will be running in the newly created riding of Fredericton South-Silverwood in the upcoming election.

“I’m excited to make this announcement, and with an election call potentially coming soon, I felt that it was important to make it now,” said Holt. “Fredericton is home. It’s where I grew up, built a career, and it’s where Jon and I chose to raise our family. Frederictonians are our neighbours, my colleagues, my kids’ excellent teachers, nurses and doctors. I started serving the people of Fredericton – though it was ice cream at the time – back in 1993, with the Chamber in 2010, and I am keen to serve them again as their MLA and potentially as Premier.”

Holt won a byelection in the riding of Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore on April 24, 2023, and has been representing the residents of that riding in the Legislature.

“The people of Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore put their trust in me; I am deeply grateful and will never forget the honour they’ve given me as their MLA.”

The founding meeting for the Fredericton South-Silverwood riding will happen on October 4, along with other regional riding associations. Other founding meetings are taking place all across the province.

“Premier Higgs is out of touch, wanting this election a year earlier than it’s scheduled. Our team is ready to fight for the issues that New Brunswickers care about,” Holt said. “It’s time New Brunswickers had a government that was focused on their priorities. Our team is ready to fight for better healthcare, and to build an NB where everyone feels at home.”
