Liberal Association launches nomination process for Restigouche-Chaleur

February 16, 2023News

The New Brunswick Liberal Association has preparations well underway for the highly anticipated upcoming by-elections. We have kicked off our efforts to elect three new Liberal MLAs, and we are excited to announce that the Restigouche-Chaleur Liberal Association will be holding their nominating convention on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Salle multifonctionnelle Denis-Richard in Petit-Rocher.

“The Liberal party is growing, and we want to be as open and inclusive as we can. We’re looking for passionate New Brunswickers from all walks of life, all professions, and all backgrounds who want to see their community and our province thrive”, says Liberal Leader, Susan Holt. “I encourage anyone who is curious about getting involved in provincial politics to visit the New Brunswick Liberal Association website to learn more about becoming a Liberal Candidate.”

To maximize accessibility to the nomination process and ensure that all members have their voices heard, the Restigouche-Chaleur nomination will use an electronic voting method much like the Leadership Convention. This format allows members to vote at their convenience during a designated period of time before the convention, but also provides an opportunity to gather together for the live announcement of the nomination results.

“The Liberal Caucus and I are eager to welcome new faces to the table”, says Holt. “We urge the Premier to stop dragging his heels and call these three by-elections as soon as possible to ensure all New Brunswickers are represented in the Legislature without further delay.”

“We want to hear from those who want to join our team as we continue to hold this government to account on the issues important to all New Brunswickers including healthcare, education, and cost of living.

Voter registration for Restigouche-Chaleur opens today, February 16, 2023, and ends March 15, 2023, at 4:30 pm. Liberal members in the riding interested in voting must register to do so before the registration cut-off.  An Intent to Vote form can be found on nbliberal.ca.

Registered voters will be able to vote from Thursday, March 23, 2023m at 8:00 am until Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 3:00 pm, and the results of the vote will be announced on March 26, 2023 at the in-person event.

The deadline for candidates to submit their nomination papers is March 3, 2023, at 4:30 pm.
