Following a meeting of the Board of Directors last evening, the New Brunswick Liberal Party is pleased to announce the unanimous acclamation of Kevin Vickers as the next leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, effective April 24th, 2019.

“I am incredibly humbled to become the next leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party,” said Vickers. “My life has been shaped by so many people that have helped to build this province. I’m thrilled to do my part in the months and years ahead to ensure that New Brunswick’s future is one that is filled with hope and opportunity.”

New Brunswick Liberal Association President Joel Reed expressed optimism for the future of the Party:

“Mr. Vickers has the experience, the energy, and the vision to lead our Party in a new direction for the benefit of all New Brunswickers,” said Reed. “I’m looking forward to what the future holds for our Party and our Province.”

Since announcing his intention to seek the provincial Liberal leadership in mid-March, Vickers has toured virtually every corner of New Brunswick, and has shared his ideas on how to renew and strengthen both the Liberal Party and Government in this province.

Mr. Vickers will outline his vision for New Brunswick at a Press Conference in Fredericton on the effective date of his tenure as Leader, April 24th, 2019 in Fredericton.

After careful examination, the party has also decided to forgo the Leadership Convention event originally scheduled for June 22nd, 2019 in Saint John and has instead committed to hosting the Party’s 2020 Biennial Convention in the Port City next spring.

“Having Liberals from around the province participate in shaping our vision for the future is a wonderful thing, and to have Saint John play host for this event is an exciting opportunity and we’re really looking forward to it,” said Gerry Lowe, MLA for Saint John Harbour.

Vickers says he’s thankful for the support he’s received from Interim Leader Denis Landry, Liberal Caucus members, and Party officials and looks forward to working with them to build a stronger New Brunswick.
