Guy Arseneault nominated as Liberal candidate in Campbellton-Dalhousie

Eel River Dundee – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Saturday for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018. Guy Arseneault was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Campbellton-Dalhousie.
Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Guy Arseneault on his community engagement in the riding. “As a leader and former educator who is deeply rooted in the Restigouche region, Guy has wide range of skills to help us grow the economy, improve education and strengthen health care,” said Gallant.
A graduate of Dalhousie High School and St. Thomas University, Guy Arseneault has a proven track record as a leader at the school, community, provincial and national levels. Serving for many years as a teacher, principal and hockey coach, he also devoted his energies to leadership roles in his home community and region including municipal councilor for eight years, a director and vice-president of the Charlo Airport Commission, and chair of the Dalhousie Regional Transportation Commission.
He was first elected as the Member of Parliament in 1988 for Restigouche-Chaleur and went on to serve for 9 years. He had the opportunity to serve as Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Canadian Heritage. Following this, he spent five years as Deputy Commissioner with the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunals.
Arseneault was a member of the New Brunswick Teachers’ Association (NBTA) Board of Directors for five years, including four years on the Executive Committee. He was Vice-President of the NBTA from 2013-15 and President from 2015 to 2017.
Guy Arseneault stated he was honoured to receive the endorsement from the members of Campbellton-Dalhousie. “The investments made in this region have put us on a road to recovery, and I want to make sure we continue to focus on economic development to improve the quality of life for the people in our region,” said Arseneault.
