Fredericton (October 8, 2020) – Yesterday, the Liberal caucus met to elect Francine Landry as the new Caucus Chair.

Francine Landry was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 2014, as the member for the new riding of Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston. Since then, she has acted as Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Minister of Economic Development and Minister responsible for Opportunities NB. From 2018 to August 2020 she served as the Official Opposition critic for Transportation and Infrastructure.

“I am honoured and humbled to have been chosen by my colleagues to act as Caucus Chair,” said Ms. Landry. “New Brunswickers have elected 17 highly qualified liberal MLAs to represent them. With all of us working as a team, I am confident we will be a strong voice for progressive values in the Legislature, and as caucus chair, I look forward to playing a leadership role in these efforts.”

In addition to being Caucus Chair, Ms. Landry also serves as the Official Opposition critic for Environment and Climate Change.

“I believe our team made a wise choice electing Francine Landry as Caucus Chair,” said Interim Leader Roger Melanson. “I have served with her since she was first elected and have witnessed her hard work and dedication firsthand. I know she will carry out her role with the upmost professionalism for the benefit of all New Brunswickers.”
