Francine Landry endorsed by riding as Liberal candidate in Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston

EDMUNDSTON – The New Brunswick Liberal Association (NBLA) held the Nominating Convention for the riding of Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018. Francine Landry, Minister of Economic Development, Minister responsible for Opportunities NB and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, was nominated without contested meeting held Saturday morning.
Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Landry on her work for the riding. “Francine is a strong voice for the Madawaska region. Her experience as a business woman allows her to provide government valuable incite to grow the economy of the region and the province. She also is a great representative of New Brunswick in the Canadian and world scene of La Francophonie”, said Gallant.
Landry has extensive experience as a businesswoman in economic development, tourism, and culture. From 2012 to 2014, Ms. Landry was in charge of the economic component of the 2014 Congrès mondial acadien. She was responsible for promoting and facilitating cooperation between international partners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders in northern New Brunswick, northern Maine, and Témiscouata, Québec. She has also worked as an assistant director and economic development officer for the Northwest Industrial Commission and has sat on numerous boards at both the regional and provincial levels.
Landry said she was humbled to have been nominated. “It is an honour, to offer again to serve my fellow citizens. I am very touched by the confidence that is bestowed upon me” said Landry. “The people of Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston are hard-working, dedicated and dynamic. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished in this mandate and I want to continue to work for our great region so that it can continue to grow.”
