Brian Kenny nominated as Liberal candidate in Bathurst West-Beresford

BERESFORD – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Monday night for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018. Brian Kenny was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Bathurst West-Beresford in an uncontested meeting.
Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Kenny on his community engagement in the riding. “Brian Kenny has been a steady advocate for the North and the Chaleur region. He has also delivered on their priorities of jobs, education and healthcare,” said Gallant.
Brian Kenny was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 2003 as the Liberal MLA representing Bathurst and has been reelected 3 consecutive times since. He has been Minister of State for Seniors and Minister Responsible for the Community Non-Profit Organizations Secretariat, Minister of and Minister of Environment and Local Government. On June 6, 2016, he was appointed minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. On September 5, 2017, he was also appointed as minister responsible for Official Languages.
Born in Bathurst, Mr. Kenny is the past president of both the New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Bathurst Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as a co-chair of the Restigouche-Chaleur Economic Development Task Force. A real estate developer and former licensed real estate broker, he served as secretary, treasurer, and director of the Northern New Brunswick Real Estate Board. Mr. Kenny was a director-at-large with the Chaleur Regional Development Commission, and he is a member of Rotary Club and the Royal Canadian Legion.
Brian Kenny said he was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from the members of Bathurst West-Beresford. “We’ve seen a lot of progress in the area, including long-awaited expansions to the Chaleur Regional Hospital and the Bathurst Regional Airport. I want to see this momentum continue” said Kenny.
