HAMPTON – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention last Saturday for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018. Carley Parish was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Hampton in an uncontested meeting.

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Parish on her community engagement in the riding. “As a lawyer, businessperson, educator and passionate volunteer, Carley has proven skills to help us move New Brunswick forward as we focus on our priorities of jobs, education and families.” said Gallant.

Carley Parish, was born in South Surrey, British Columbia and moved to New Brunswick in 2001 to attend Law School. Ms. Parish is a proud Hamptonian, having resided here since 2004 with her husband Michel Boudreau. Ms. Parish received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University in 2001 and a Bachelor of Law from the Université de Moncton in 2004. She has also began work on her Masters of Law in Civil Law from the Université de Laval. Ms. Parish has plead at all levels of Court in New Brunswick. In 2004, she became a member of the law firm of Lutz Longstaff Parish. She was named Partner in 2009, and is now the Managing Partner. She has taught at the University of New Brunswick Law School and has taught at the New Brunswick Bar Course.

Ms. Parish has been named as a recipient of the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2017, the Town of Hampton Small Business Week Award for Community Leadership in 2015, and was inducted into the North American Fastpitch Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. She is actively involved in the community of Hampton and surrounding area, supporting opportunities for youth, local businesses, community organizations and the vulnerable populations. She is a former President of the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce, and has served on the Town’s Tourism Committee. Ms. Parish is the Chair of the Children’s Wish Foundation of New Brunswick, and has sat on National Boards and numerous not- for-profit organizations, including the KV Oasis Youth Centre. She has led fundraisers which have directly benefited Hampton and surrounding communities.

Carley Parish said she was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from the members of Hampton. “Hampton needs a strong advocate to get things done for the people of this riding. It would be my honour to represent the people of Hampton.” said Parish.

This nomination brings the party closer to its goal that women make up half of the candidates nominated in unheld ridings in the next provincial election 12 of the 22 currently nominated candidates in those ridings are women.
