Bernard LeBlanc nominated as Liberal candidate in Memramcook-Tantramar

MEMRAMCOOK – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Saturday for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018.  Bernard LeBlanc was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Memramcook-Tantramar in an uncontested meeting.  LeBlanc is the current MLA for the riding.

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended LeBlanc on his work for the riding: “Bernard’s long standing commitment to community service has made him an incredible representative for Memramcook-Tantramar. His vast array of experience remains a source of strength to the Liberal caucus as we work to grow the New Brunswick economy, strengthen education and improve health care.” said Gallant.

LeBlanc was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2006 provincial election. He served as Minister of Local Government, Minister of Justice and Consumer Affairs, and Minister responsible for Public Engagement, and was reelected in 2010.  He was reelected again on September 22, 2014, as the member for Memramcook-Tantramar. He serves as Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

LeBlanc serves as Chair of the Standing Committee on Estimates and Fiscal Policy, Vice Chair of the Legislative Administration Committee.  He was Vice Chair of the Select Committee on Climate Change. He has also been named to several legislative committees including Crown Corporations, Economic Policy, Social Policy, Law Amendments and Procedure, Privileges and Legislative Officers.

Bernard LeBlanc said he was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from his riding. “It has been an great honour and a great privilege to represent the wonderful people of Memramcook-Tantramar. I look forward to proudly continue the outstanding work we do in our riding.” said LeBlanc.
