Stand with us to protect the Environment

A re-elected Liberal Government will maintain its moratorium on hydraulic fracturing, and its ban on the disposal of fracked wastewater.

Immediately upon taking office in October 2014, The Gallant Government announced its intention to implement a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing until the risks to the environment, water supply and human health could be better understood. Legislation was introduced in December 2014 and came into law in June 2015 to establish the moratorium.

The Conservatives have proposed lifting the moratorium in Albert County, which would permit drilling and hydraulic fracturing in the area of the Turtle Creek watershed, the source of drinking water for Greater Moncton.
