Provincial parks receive revitalization funding

July 5, 2018News

Your Liberal government is investing $2.73 million towards provincial parks revitalization this year as part of the New Brunswick Tourism Growth Strategy.

As part of a renewed focus on the tourism sector through the New Brunswick Tourism Growth Strategy, the government will invest in park landscaping and buildings, new entrances and interpretive signage which will outline themes specific to each of the respective nine parks.

As well, the funding will improve park and attraction infrastructure which will also benefit surrounding tourism operators. The work is intended to help ensure provincial parks and key attractions remain open until the Thanksgiving weekend to fully harness the fall or “shoulder” season.

The New Brunswick Tourism Growth Strategy will invest $100 million in tourism over the next eight years, with a goal of growing tourism spending to $2 billion by 2025. Tourism visitor spending is currently estimated at $1.3 billion, making it the third-largest export service sector in the province.
