March 14, 2024 (Rothesay) – Liberals gathered in the riding of Rothesay this evening to nominate Alyson Townsend as their candidate for the next provincial election.

As the event began, Leader of the Liberal Party of New Brunswick Susan Holt said “Alyson has been a champion for her community for years now and wants to continue to serve. We are thrilled to be adding someone with so much leadership experience to our team.”

Rothesay is the tenth riding where the Liberal Party is holding a nominating convention leading up to the next election. With an impressive background boasting two decades of senior-level corporate experience, Alyson brings a wealth of leadership skills and a passion for fostering healthy workplaces to the team. Her dedication to progressive change and community involvement is evident through her extensive volunteer work with organizations including the YMCA, Family Plus, and 100 Women Who Care.

Following the convention, Townsend said “I am very excited to join this team. I want to be part of the change that is coming. We are all tired of the negativity so let’s try positivity. Let’s change healthcare and long-term care in this province. Let’s change education and give it the priority it deserves. One in every four children in Saint John live in poverty and those numbers keep increasing. It’s time to deal with these serious issues.”

In closing the event, Holt said, “We keep hearing there is too much drama in the Legislature, in government and in the Premier’s office, and people tell me they want an adult in the room. We are adults, and we will bring level-headed, respectful leadership to the Legislature, to our hard working civil service, to the Premier’s office, and to the people of New Brunswick.”
