Candidate for VP Membership – Joanna Nahri, Shediac-Beaubassin-Cap-Pelé
My name is Joanna Nahri and I am 26 years old. I am a 4th year student enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences program, with a major in political science and minor in criminology.
Originally from Lebanon, I moved to Canada at the age of 15, and currently live in Shediac. My involvement with the Provincial Liberal Party began during the 2018 election campaign, where I had the opportunity to volunteer, go door to door, make calls and many other administrative tasks.
Since that time, I have continued my involvement with the provincial party. Currently, I sit on the executive of the Shediac-Beaubassin-Cap-Pelé Liberal Association as a women’s representative.
It is important to adopt new recruiting strategies in order to ensure the continuity and development of our party. The members of the New Brunswick Liberal Party must be consulted and engaged on a regular basis. This will allow their participation in the process of embracing these new recruitment strategies. That is why I am running for the position of VP Membership of the New Brunswick Liberal Association. My profile as a new Canadian allows me to bring new ideas and new methods of recruiting.
As a young woman and a member of the provincial Liberal Party, it is important that we are open to greater diversity. We need to include young and old, women, and new Canadians in our party. I am ready to work together with the other members of the Executive to ensure that our provincial party remains more inclusive, diverse and responsive to citizens.
