FREDERICTON (February 1, 2024) – Liberals gathered in the riding of Fredericton York Thursday evening to nominate the riding’s official candidate for the next provincial election.

“We are laser focussed on the year ahead, building a team of hard working New Brunswickers who are dedicated to solving the challenges we’re facing in our province,”said Liberal Leader Susan Holt. “Tanya Whitney exemplifies the kind of fierce and empathetic candidates we need to form a Holt-led Liberal government in 2024.”

Fredericton York is the sixth riding where the Liberal Party is holding a nomination contest leading up to the next election. Tanya Whitney, an experienced education expert whose career has focused on leadership, inclusivity, and equality ran uncontested for the nomination.

When addressing the crowd, Tanya said “I believe in the power of people to make a difference. I want to help develop the conditions in which we can work together as New Brunswickers. We build change in our communities by working together, not by dividing, like this current government.”

The New Brunswick Liberal Party will continue to hold nominations to name candidates in the coming weeks.

Holt noted that she is excited to welcome Tanya to the Liberal team. “I’m thrilled to have Tanya join our dynamic team of candidates and incumbents. Her energy and experience will serve the people of Fredericton York very well.”
