NB Liberals nominate Claire Johnson in Moncton South

NOVEMBER 27 (Moncton) – Liberals gathered in the riding of Moncton South this weekend to nominate Claire Johnson as their candidate for Moncton South in the next provincial election.

Kicking off the event, Liberal Leader Susan Holt stressed that now more than ever “New Brunswickers deserve a government that is going to listen to them and that is going to care about them.”

Claire Johnson, a dietitian and assistant professor at Universite de Moncton, is a well-known advocate who is passionate about families, community connection, active living, and fair access to healthcare. Through her work, she has extensive experience using data to guide policy decisions.

“As a dietitian by training, food security, prevention, and well-being are very important to me. It is unacceptable that people go hungry in Moncton South. We need to figure out a way to make food affordable and accessible to all. I will fight for a universal publicly funded breakfast and lunch program for all students in every single school in New Brunswick,” said Johnson during the event.

Claire joins confirmed candidates David Hickey, Patty Borthwick, and Dave Gouthro who have been nominated recently at local Liberal Association conventions.

“I have watched Claire’s drive in this political process and have been so in awe of her energy and her attitude. New Brunswickers deserve a team of people who are supporting them from corner to corner to corner in this province. Not just one man in one office in Fredericton who makes all of the decisions. They deserve a team that works together and I am so proud to have the team that we do, and to be adding Claire to that group today,” said Holt.

The New Brunswick Liberal Party will continue to hold nominating conventions to name candidates over the coming months.
