New Brunswick Day 2021 is marked by a significant milestone – the return to a more normal life following 17 months of battling the COVID-19 pandemic.  It’s a day for celebration. We celebrate the incredible efforts of all frontline workers who kept us safe, healthy, and nourished. We celebrate neighbours who looked out for each other.  We celebrate public health and safety officials who guided us through the worst days with clear heads and compassion. And we celebrate the return of being able to hug our friends, to visit with seniors, and to see smiles on faces.

And while we have much to celebrate, we also grieve the loss of 46 souls to COVID-19 and offer our condolences to the loved ones who continue to mourn their tragic loss. We remember too those who continue to struggle with the effects of COVID-19, those who may have lost their job, those whose businesses struggle, and those whose physical and mental health have been affected.

I encourage all New Brunswickers to reflect on the gifts our province has to offer, to take the time to visit our wonderful natural and tourist attractions and to celebrate this day safely.  Happy New Brunswick Day! “
