“It is outrageous that in 2021 we are still fighting for reproductive rights in New Brunswick. In December, we debated the Liberal motion urging the Higgs Government to repeal of Regulation 84-20, which would allow abortions to be covered Medicare. The Higgs government voted against repealing this regulation, knowing the Federal government had stated that New Brunswick is going against the Canada Health Act by keeping this regulation. Patients who require access to abortion should not have to pay out of pocket for when they are legally entitled to have it covered through our Medicare.

It is very unfortunate that New Brunswick’s health system will suffer because of Premier Higgs’ archaic attitude towards reproductive rights.”
