Liberal Leader Brian Gallant today announced part of his party’s plan for small businesses, including a commitment to create a new cabinet minister responsible for small business and for the successful implementation of the small business plan.

Gallant announced that a re-elected Liberal Government will remain focused on helping small businesses with a plan that includes:

  • Appointing a minister responsible for small businesses and red-tape reduction to work directly with stakeholders to improve the economic climate for small businesses throughout New Brunswick.
  • Launching, in partnership with credit unions, a small business loan program for entrepreneurs who are having difficulty accessing capital.
  • Working with our Atlantic neighbours on reducing and harmonizing regulations for business.
  • Reducing red tape for business owners, including removing red tape from the Investor Tax Credit.

The Gallant Liberal Government developed the multi-year New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan which aims to grow the economy and create job opportunities for New Brunswick citizens. The plan focuses on strategic investments in infrastructure, in the responsible development of New Brunswick’s natural resources, in fostering innovation within traditional industries as well as emerging ones like cyber security, in supporting small businesses, in developing a skilled workforce, and in boosting growth sectors like tourism. The Liberal Government’s plan has successfully turned around an economy in decline.
