TRACADIE – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Tuesday night for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018.  Keith Chiasson was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Tracadie-Sheila in an uncontested meeting.

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Chiasson on his community engagement in the riding. “Keith knows the issues that are important to the people of Tracadie-Sheila and has the political experience to get things done that will help us continue to improve the quality of life for New Brunswick families,” said Gallant.

With a background in community organizing, Keith Chiasson has been the executive assistant to Minister Serge Rousselle for the past four years.  This experience has grown his knowledge of the inner workings of government across many departments, including Education and Early Childhood Development, Environment and Local Government, Service New Brunswick and the Office of the Attorney General.

Keith Chiasson has a degree in political science from the University of Ottawa.  He studied at the Université de Moncton while playing for the Aigles Bleus hockey team.  After traveling around Canada for a number of years, he settled in Tracadie with his family where he worked in community development.  Most notably, Keith was one of the coordinators for the États généraux de la jeunesse de la Péninsule acadienne.

Living in Tracadie for the past 15 years and known as a hard worker who values teamwork and getting results, Keith Chiasson will listen to constituents and will continue the work that had begun when the Liberals won their mandate in 2014.

Keith Chiasson said he was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from the members of Tracadie-Sheila. “I’m a father of two that cares deeply about this region. We’ve seen great progress in Tracadie over the past four years and many projects, both social and economic, are still in development. That’s why, in the interest of the people in this riding, I find it so important to continue the work that’s been started.” said Chiasson.

The list of official contestants for nominations are available on the New Brunswick Liberal Party’s website at nbliberal.ca.
