RIVERVIEW – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Saturday for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018.  Brent Mazerolle was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Riverview in an uncontested meeting.

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Mazerolle on his community engagement in the riding. “As a former journalist, columnist and educator, Brent is deeply rooted in this community and will be a great asset as we continue to grow the economy, improve the education system and strengthen health care,” said Gallant.

Before becoming a public servant, Mazerolle was an award winning reporter, columnist, and editor at the Times & Transcript for 16 years. Prior to that, the Mount Allison University graduate spent seven years teaching high school English and history. Outside of work, he has served on the City of Moncton’s Public Safety Advisory Committee and volunteered with the House of Nazareth and the Red Cross. A frequent guest speaker and lecturer in public school and university classes, Mazerolle has also given his time to coaching youth soccer, adjudicating student oratory competitions, and serving on the committee working to bring the Brier to Moncton.

He and Tracy, his wife of 27 years, moved to Riverview 12 years ago because they wanted a great place to raise their children. Their son Nick and daughter Liv are both students at Riverview High School.

Brent Mazerolle said he was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from the members of Riverview. “ In my decades as an educator, journalist and public servant, I believe I have built a unique set of skills, insights and relationships that will make me an effective advocate for the people of Riverview,” said Mazerolle.
