MLA, Moncton East
Monique LeBlanc was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in the provincial election of September 22, 2014, as the member for Moncton East. She was appointed Government Caucus Chair. In June 2016, she was appointed Deputy Speaker and a member of the Treasury Board. She chairs of the Standing Committee on Social Policy and is a member of the Standing Committee on Crown Corporations, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, the Legislative Administration Committee, the Standing Committee on Estimates and Fiscal Policy, and the Standing Committee on Law Amendments.
She is a native of Moncton and a graduate of École Mathieu-Martin, in Dieppe. Monique LeBlanc holds a diploma in health sciences and a master’s degree in education from the Université de Moncton, as well as a bachelor’s degree in science (physiotherapy) from Université Laval. She has extensive experience in the field of sports physiotherapy. She was the owner-operator of Sportmed Acadie, at the Université de Moncton, and has taught at both the Université de Moncton and the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage, in Dieppe.
Over the years, she has played an active role in many community and professional organizations. She served as the President of the College of Physiotherapists of New Brunswick and sat on the board of directors of the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators. She was also active in the Sport Physiotherapy Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. In the 2012 municipal, school district, and health network elections, Ms. LeBlanc was elected as the representative of the Moncton area on the board of directors of Réseau de santé Vitalité, where she sat on various committees. She has chaired Film Zone, sat on the board of the Société des Jeux de l’Acadie, and been involved in the Canadian Olympic Movement. As a former high-performance athlete, the health and wellness of New Brunswickers concern her greatly.
Ms. LeBlanc is perfectly bilingual and well-travelled. She lives in Moncton with her husband and daughter.
