Moncton – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Tuesday night for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018.  Monique LeBlanc was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Moncton East in an uncontested meeting.  LeBlanc is the current MLA for Moncton East.

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Association, was present at the nomination and commended LeBlanc on her work for the riding “Monique has strong ties to her community which has allowed her to be a steady advocate for Moncton East in the Legislature. As a former small business owner, a professor and a physiotherapist, Monique understands the importance of economic growth, education, and healthcare” said Gallant.

Monique LeBlanc was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in the provincial election of September 22, 2014, as the member for Moncton East. She was appointed Government Caucus Chair. In June 2016, she was appointed Deputy Speaker and a member of the Treasury Board. She chairs the Standing Committee on Social Policy and is a member of the Standing Committee on Crown Corporations, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, the Legislative Administration Committee, the Standing Committee on Estimates and Fiscal Policy, and the Standing Committee on Law Amendments.

She is a native of Moncton and a graduate of École Mathieu-Martin, in Dieppe. Monique LeBlanc holds a diploma in health sciences and a master’s degree in education from the Université de Moncton, as well as a bachelor’s degree in science (physiotherapy) from Université Laval. She has extensive experience in the field of sports physiotherapy. She was the owner-operator of Sportmed Acadie, at the Université de Moncton, and has taught at both the Université de Moncton and the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage, in Dieppe.

Monique LeBlanc said she was honoured to receive the uncontested endorsement from Moncton East. “Representing the people of the wonderful Moncton East has been an honour and a privilege.  I very much appreciate hearing the concerns of my constituents and to be able to voice those concerns in Fredericton,” said LeBlanc. “I am proud of our government’s priorities of education, healthcare, and the economy, and I hope to represent my constituents once again to continue working on these priorities.”
