BOIS-BLANC – The New Brunswick Liberal Association held a nomination convention Saturday evening for the next provincial election on September 24, 2018.  Denis Landry was nominated as the Liberal candidate for Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore in an uncontested meeting.

 

Premier Brian Gallant, who is also Leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party, was present at the nomination and commended Landry on his community engagement in the riding. “Denis listens to New Brunswickers and gets things done to grow the economy, strengthen education and improve healthcare.” said Gallant.

 

Denis Landry was re-elected to the 58th Legislature to represent the new riding of Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore in the September 22, 2014, provincial election. He was sworn in as Minister of Natural Resources and Minister of Human Resources on October 7, 2014. In June 2016, he was appointed Minister of Justice and Public Safety. He is a member of the Jobs Board and the Policy Board.

 

First elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick on September 11, 1995, as member for the new Centre-Péninsule riding, he has served on the Standing Committee on Law Amendments, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, and the Special Cabinet Committee on Social Policy Renewal. He was a member of the Action Nord group and the only MLA to sit on the ministerial committee for the economic development of the Acadian Peninsula. Mr. Landry was re-elected to the 55th Legislature in the June 9, 2003, provincial election. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Private Bills and the Select Committee on Wood Supply. As a member of the official opposition, he was critic for areas of interest related to tourism and automobile insurance. He was re-elected to represent the new Centre-Péninsule-Saint-Sauveur riding in the September 18, 2006, provincial election. He was sworn in as Minister of Transportation on October 3, 2006. He was re-elected to the 57th Legislature in the provincial election held September 27, 2010. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Estimates and the Legislative Administration Committee.

I very much appreciate the opportunity to proudly continue to the great work we are doing in our riding” said Landry.
